Doreen Morici, MSW, LCSW, RYT
Although I was born in south Florida, the mountains of WNC have been a part of my life in some way or form and is where I call home. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Wellness Coach, Herbalist, Yoga and Reiki Practitioner. My background includes working in a variety of settings with children and families of diverse backgrounds and abilities including Therapist positions in a residential treatment center/therapeutic boarding school and in community mental health, Field Instructor in a wilderness therapy program, a Middle School Teacher, and Paraprofessional working with children and adults with developmental disabilities.
My passion is working with pre-adolescents, adolescents, and young adults on their journey toward self-awareness and emotional health while supporting the process of improving relationships with family, peers, teachers, and romantic partners—Developing self-acceptance, emotional regulation and resiliency are the foundation to establishing a healthier relationship with self and others. My joy as a therapist is in experiential, strengths-based therapies with an emphasis on healthy regulation of emotions required to successfully navigate relationships. I enjoy connecting people to their bodies, getting out of their heads, and leading from their hearts using neuroscience and body-based treatment modalities—integrating EMDR therapy with somatic, expressive, and experiential interventions (mindfulness, art, yoga, wilderness) with traditional modalities (CBT, DBT, psychotherapy) to encourage resilience, empowerment, and healing from chronic stress, trauma, and anxiety.
As a therapist and coach it is an honor to be a part of this process, to assist and guide individuals and families through the many life transitions including middle school, puberty, high school, dating and romantic relationships, higher education, careers, divorce, loss, grief, traumatic events, etc. I look forward to the opportunity to support you in this journey!
